Adding and excluding files

Adding and excluding files in GoldenSection DataServer

Adding files to the list

To make a .gso file available for users over network, you need to add it to GoldenSection DataServer.
You can add a file in any of the following ways:
  • In the program menu, select File - Add...
  • Right-click the list of shared databases and select Add... in the pop-up menu
  • Click the button on the toolbar.
A dialog box appears on the screen allowing you to select a file:

Select a desired .gso file and click the Open button.
The selected file will be added to the list of shared databases.

A record about the connection of a new database will be automatically added to the program log.
If a selected file has already been added to the list of shared databases, the program displays a message stating that a file with this name has been present in the list.

The file added to the list of shared databases becomes available for reading and editing on computers in the specified network.

Excluding files from the list

If you want to block access to a file, you need to exclude (remove) it from the list of shared databases.
You can do it in various ways:
  • In the program menu, select File - Exclude
  • Right-click the list of shared databases and select Exclude... in the pop-up menu
  • Click the button on the toolbar.
The selected file will be removed from the list of shared databases. It becomes unavailable for network operation.

A record about the removal of a database from the list will be automatically added to the program log.
