Dialer settings

The Dialer settings dialog box is designed to select and customize a device that will be used to dial a phone number.

Appearance:

Use this dialog box to select one of two ways of accessing a modem:
  • Access via COM port
  • Access via TAPI

Access via serial (COM) port

Detect modems...
Allows you to automatically detect available modems and set the number of COM port.

Port
Allows you to set COM port number manually.

Dial method
Allows you to select a dial method/type: tone or pulse.

Turn on sound
Allows you to turn on/off the dialing sound via modem speaker.

Access via TAPI-compatible device

Device
If there are TAPI-compatible devices in your system, the Device dropdown list will display all available devices of this kind. Select a device that will be used for dialing a phone number.

Forced pulse dialing
If this option is enabled, the modem is forced to switch to pulse dialing (for old phone systems).

Checking the Local area call prefix option enables you to specify a sequence of characters to be used to access a local area telephone network. Here you can use digits, pause symbols (p) and tone waiting (w). To enter pauses and long tone waiting symbols, use corresponding buttons.
